Cliftonville Dental was set up in 2004 by Dr Anesh Patel and Dr Arti Shah, who own and run it together and who both qualified from King's College London in 1999. It is a private practice on The Avenue in Cliftonville, Northampton, rather than part of a corporate group, and several of the team have been there for more than twenty years.

The implant and cosmetic side of the practice has grown substantially over the last twelve years and now takes referrals from other dentists across Northamptonshire, which is a reasonable signal for a patient to weigh: other dentists send their own difficult cases here.

What sets the practice apart for more complex work is that a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon visits to carry out oral surgery including complex extractions, so a case that would normally mean a hospital referral can often be handled in the same building. Sedation is also offered, both inhalation and intravenous, and one of the dentists holds a diploma in dental sedation from Guy's Hospital.

Access has been considered: there is a ground floor treatment room, an accessible toilet, handrails at the entrance and wide doorways, with street parking nearby. A tree preservation order on the building means a portable ramp cannot be installed, which the practice states openly.

In the NHS he is Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Clinical Lead of the oral, maxillofacial and orthodontic department at Northampton General Hospital, sitting on both the head and neck cancer and skin cancer multidisciplinary teams. He chairs the Oxford Specialist Training Committee, examines for the MRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is an honorary lecturer at the University of Northampton. His fellowship training in reconstructive surgery and facial reanimation was at Chang Gung Hospital in Taipei and Amrita Hospital in Kerala.
