Brow Lift Surgery: Restoring Youthful Upper Face Proportions
The forehead and brows are among the first areas to show the effects of ageing. Descent of the brow position — brow ptosis — creates a heavy, tired or even angry appearance that does not reflect how a person feels. A brow lift surgically repositions the descended brows to a more youthful height, simultaneously reducing forehead lines and restoring an open, refreshed upper face appearance.
Turkey’s plastic surgeons perform brow lift surgery as a standalone procedure and commonly in combination with eyelid surgery, facelift or other facial rejuvenation procedures.
Surgical Techniques
Endoscopic Brow Lift
The most widely performed technique. Five small incisions behind the hairline allow insertion of an endoscope (camera) and instruments to release, reposition and fix the brow tissue in its new position. No scalp is removed. Scarring is minimal and concealed within the hair. Suitable for patients with adequate hairline height and mild to moderate brow descent.
Temporal (Limited Incision) Brow Lift
Small incisions within the temporal hairline address the outer brow specifically — useful for patients whose primary concern is outer brow descent without significant central brow or forehead involvement.
Coronal Brow Lift
A single incision from ear to ear behind the hairline allows comprehensive access to the entire forehead. Effective for significant brow ptosis but raises the hairline and leaves a longer scar. Less commonly performed than endoscopic technique in younger patients.
Direct Brow Lift
Incisions directly above the brow, removing a strip of skin. Leaves visible scars but provides reliable correction. Reserved for older patients where hairline position is less of a concern or where brow asymmetry needs precise correction.
Combining with Eyelid Surgery
Brow descent contributes to the appearance of upper eyelid excess — what patients often describe as heavy or hooded lids. In some cases, addressing the brow position reduces the extent of eyelid surgery required. Plastic surgeons evaluate the relationship between brow and eyelid in planning upper face rejuvenation.
Recovery and Costs
Endoscopic brow lift recovery involves swelling and numbness for two to three weeks. Most patients are presentable in public within two weeks. Cost in Turkey: €2,000–€4,500 all-inclusive. Western Europe: €5,000–€10,000. Find a verified facial surgery specialist at drvisor.com.
